Foreign Ministry Honors Late Ambassadors on 70th Anniversary of Its Creation

The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad recently released a tribute video to several ambassadors who passed away between 2025 and 2026. The video was unveiled during a ceremony held at the ministry's headquarters to commemorate the 70th anniversary of its establishment.

This initiative aimed to pay tribute to their memory and highlight their various diplomatic missions throughout their careers, both within the ministry and in international organizations, particularly those within the United Nations system.

The following individuals were honored:

Noureddine Hached (28 February 2025)

Noureddine Hached served as Tunisia's ambassador to Brussels (Belgium), Rome (Italy), and Algiers. He also held high-level regional positions as the representative of the African Union in Geneva (Switzerland) and as the deputy secretary-general of the Arab League, based in Tunis. His career extended beyond diplomacy, as he held government and parliamentary positions, including minister of employment.

Taher Sioud (24 April 2025)

Taher Sioud was Tunisia's ambassador to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), The Hague (Netherlands), and Brussels (Belgium). He also held significant government positions, including secretary of state for foreign affairs, minister of commerce, and vice-governor of the central bank.

Moncef Larbi (18 October 2025)

Moncef Larbi served as ambassador to Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) and Prague (Czech Republic), and held positions in Tunisia's missions in Dakar (Senegal), The Hague (Netherlands), and Algiers. He also held responsibilities, including special envoy to the foreign minister's cabinet and director of African affairs, as well as permanent secretary of the Socialist International.

Ali Tekaya (25 January 2026)

Ali Tekaya was Tunisia's ambassador to New Delhi (India) and Lisbon (Portugal), and held several positions within the central administration.

Mondher Mami (10 February 2026)

Mondher Mami served as Tunisia's ambassador to Vienna (Austria) and UNESCO, before being appointed ambassador to Paris (France) and Prague (Czech Republic). He also held high-level positions, including counselor to the presidency and director general of protocol, and contributed to education as a teacher at the International Diplomatic Academy.

Youssef Ben Haha (19 March 2026)

Youssef Ben Haha was Tunisia's ambassador to Stockholm (Sweden) and Athens (Greece), and held several responsibilities within the central administration.

Afif Hendaoui (30 March 2026)

Afif Hendaoui was Tunisia's ambassador to Stockholm (Sweden) and representative to international organizations in Vienna (Austria), before being appointed ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Vatican. He also held various administrative and academic positions, reflecting the diversity and richness of his career.
