Meeting Between Tunisian and Senegalese Ministers of Foreign Affairs

Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, met with Mr. Cheikh Niang, Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs, and Senegalese Abroad, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Discussion Highlights

During the meeting, both parties praised the existing level of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the economic sector, as well as in the fields of higher education, scientific research, and vocational training. They also reaffirmed their common desire to strengthen and diversify this cooperation, expanding it to promising areas such as:

  • Digital transformation
  • Health tourism
  • Agriculture
  • Agri-food industry
  • Insurance

Future Cooperation

The two ministers emphasized the importance of holding the ninth session of the Joint Commission in Tunis during the first half of 2026. They also expressed their satisfaction with the convergence of their views on current regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, and stressed the need to coordinate their positions within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union.
