Meeting Between Tunisian Foreign Minister and UNOPS Executive Director
On the sidelines of his participation in the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, met with Mr. Jorge Moreira da Silva, Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), on September 25, 2025. This meeting provided an opportunity to review the existing cooperation axes between Tunisia and the UN Office since 2006 and to explore new partnership perspectives in several vital sectors.
Key Discussion Points
- The Minister praised the important role played by UNOPS in supporting Tunisia's development efforts through its various services in project management, infrastructure, and capacity building, thereby contributing to increased employment opportunities for young people.
- The two parties also discussed the two memoranda of understanding recently signed with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Maritime Fisheries, as well as with the Ministry of Equipment and Housing, with the aim of improving the management and quality of public projects in the concerned areas.
Strengthening Cooperation
On this occasion, the Minister reiterated Tunisia's willingness to further strengthen cooperation with the various United Nations agencies and programs, particularly in priority areas for the country, in order to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and respond to the needs and aspirations of its people.
