Two New University Surgical Services Inaugurated at Habib Bourguiba University Hospital in Médenine
Two new university surgical services were inaugurated on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Habib Bourguiba University Hospital in Médenine, as part of the reinforcement of healthcare infrastructure in the governorate and the improvement of hospital-university services in the regions. The new facilities concern the general and digestive surgery department and the renal and urological surgery department. Their commissioning comes after the completion of development work and the installation of modern medical equipment, at a total estimated cost of nearly 1.4 million dinars. This project aims to improve the quality of surgical services, provide better working conditions for medical and paramedical teams, and reduce waiting times for patients in the region. Meanwhile, work is ongoing for the construction of the central operating theater and the intensive care unit. These projects are part of the Ministry of Health's strategy to modernize and rehabilitate university hospitals, bring healthcare services closer to citizens, and strengthen equal access to care across the territory.
