The City of La Marsa Mourns the Passing of Dr. Slim Meherzi
Renowned pediatrician and former mayor, died on 21 February 2026.
Dr. Slim Meherzi was a devoted physician who earned the trust of countless families through his unwavering commitment to children’s health.
Elected mayor in July 2018 at the head of the independent list “La Marsa Change,” he focused his administration on local‑level projects and transparent municipal governance.
Facing persistent administrative hurdles, Dr. Meherzi resigned in October 2019, yet he remained an active member of the municipal council.
After his mayoral term, he joined the political bureau of Afek Tounes, continuing his civic engagement and advocacy for the community.
Today, the residents of La Marsa remember him as a compassionate doctor and a dedicated public servant who always put the well‑being of his fellow citizens first.
