Tunisia Street Games to Kick Off in La Marsa
The city of La Marsa will host the first edition of the Tunisia Street Games this Sunday, the first official event in Tunisia entirely dedicated to street sports. This event is organized under the auspices of the Tunisian Federation of Sport for All and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
According to Marouène Chaieb, President of the Tunisian Federation of Sport for All, the Tunisia Street Games represent a new sports and youth project for the federation, primarily targeting adolescents under the age of 16.
In a statement to the TAP agency, Chaieb specified that several activities will be offered, including 3x3 football tournaments, breakdance initiations, and demonstrations. "The event will take place throughout the year, every weekend, in a different region of the country, to encourage the participation of young people from all over Tunisia," he added.
He emphasized that this initiative aims to promote street sports and make them better known to the general public, especially since several international federations already recognize certain disciplines, such as 3x3 football, 3x3 basketball, or 3x3 hockey.
Finally, Marouène Chaieb stressed the importance of this type of gathering, which fosters exchanges between young people from different neighborhoods, encourages regular sports practice, and helps prevent risky behaviors, such as smoking or addiction.
