Manouba Municipality Gives 7-Day Deadline for Vehicle Owners to Remove Abandoned or Parked Vehicles

English Translation of the News Article

The municipality of Manouba has granted a 7-day deadline to vehicle owners whose vehicles have been parked for an extended period on public roads, including abandoned or for-sale vehicles, to remove them and free up the affected spaces. After this deadline, the vehicles will be towed and taken to the municipal pound.

According to a statement made by Fethi Derouaz, the secretary general of the municipality in charge of management, this measure specifically targets vehicles that have been abandoned or immobilized for a long time, particularly those located near the Manouba El Maamour mosque and in front of the Toubjia field in Manouba.

Derouaz explained that these vehicles harm the urban aesthetic, degrade the image of public roads and spaces, disrupt traffic, and can pose a danger to road users. These factors motivated the municipal decision.

In the event of non-compliance with the imposed deadline, vehicles will be towed after a court bailiff has made a report and in coordination with the competent police and municipal guard services. Vehicle owners will be responsible for covering the costs of towing, transportation, and guarding, as well as any potential municipal fines.

This decision is part of the municipality's cleaning and urban aesthetic improvement program, which mobilizes its human resources and cleaning and collection equipment.

Additionally, the municipality is continuing to manage its municipal depot through an inventory of stored goods and the separation of materials. Preparations are also underway for the transfer of non-usable metal materials to the Tunisian Steel Society "El Fouladh" in accordance with Decree No. 423 of 2025 dated September 24, 2025, as well as for the organization of an auction sale of several heavy equipment items that are no longer in use, after completion of the necessary regulatory procedures.
