Multidisciplinary Health Caravan Benefits 305 Seniors and Adults

Yesterday, Friday, a multidisciplinary health caravan organized by the Manouba Regional Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Regional Delegation of Youth and Sports and the Manouba municipality, provided services to 305 seniors and adults at the region's Youth House. The event was supervised by the Ministry of Health's Basic Health Care Department.

Kaouthar Beltif, Deputy Director of the Regional Health Directorate, explained to the TAP press agency that the caravan, staffed by 7 specialist doctors and several paramedical personnel, was organized under the slogan "Prevention and Screening for Safe and Healthy Aging" to celebrate World Older Persons Day. The caravan primarily targeted the senior population in the region, and the turnout was significant, particularly since it coincided with the weekly market in the surrounding area.

The medical specialties offered were varied, including general medicine, psychiatry, neurology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, cardiology, dentistry, and dermatology. In addition to consultations, services for screening blood pressure and diabetes, as well as hearing tests, were provided. A nutritionist also conducted awareness activities for the beneficiaries.

Imen Habbassi, Regional Director of Health, told the TAP agency that this caravan is part of the health caravan program that the Regional Health Directorate ensures or contributes to with other structures. The goal is to bring health services, particularly specialized medicine, closer to residential neighborhoods and rural areas. This involves providing a range of health and educational services, especially to vulnerable categories such as seniors, people without support, and those who cannot travel, by offering them consultations and medication, and ensuring medical follow-up for cases that require it. This action is in addition to the ongoing caravans organized as part of the October Rose program.
