Minister of Health Meets with Tunisian Association to Discuss National Osteoporosis Strategy
The Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, received representatives from the Tunisian Association for the Fight Against Rheumatism on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, to present the project for a national strategy for osteoporosis screening and management. During the meeting, several concrete measures were examined to improve the management of this silent disease, which threatens the quality of life of thousands of citizens. These measures include:
- Early screening and regular monitoring of patients
- Creation of fracture follow-up centers for secondary prevention
- Equitable access to treatments and medications
- Establishment of a national fracture registry for better planning
- Support for training, scientific research, and awareness-raising Additionally, these initiatives plan to create an Inter-University Diploma (DIU) on osteoporosis diseases in medical faculties to train specialized doctors. The Minister of Health emphasized the importance of considering osteoporosis a national health priority, stressing that early diagnosis and comprehensive management must be accessible in all regions, with an equitable approach.
