The national production of pomegranates for the 2025-2026 season is estimated to be 91,000 tons, a significant decrease from the 102,900 tons recorded the previous year. This information was announced on Saturday, November 8, 2025, by Anis Ben Rayana, an agricultural affairs expert, during his intervention on Express Fm.
Key Statistics
- The area dedicated to pomegranate cultivation in Tunisia covers 12,300 hectares, with approximately 5.6 million trees.
- Five governorates account for 68% of the country's pomegranate plantations, with Gabès leading the way with 2,800 hectares, followed by:
- Kairouan (1,850 ha)
- Béja (1,620 ha)
- Nabeul (1,419 ha)
- Manouba (600 ha)
Production Rankings
In terms of production, Gabès dominates the rankings with 19,500 tons, accounting for 21.5% of the national production, ahead of:
- Béja (15,000 t)
- Nabeul (13,900 t)
- Kairouan (13,300 t)
