Maintenance and Management Group Established for the El Jem Industrial Zone (Mahdia Governorate)
A maintenance and management consortium for the industrial zone in El Jem, Mahdia Governorate, has been officially created in accordance with Article 7 of Law No. 94‑16 of 31 January 1994 on the planning and upkeep of industrial zones.
Legal framework
- Article 7 mandates that, by decree of the Minister responsible for Industry, a maintenance and management group must be set up in every industrial zone.
- The initiative must come from professional organisations, trade associations, and the occupants, operators, and owners of buildings within the zone.
- The organisation, constitution, operating procedures, and model statutes of each group will be defined by a subsequent decree.
Official creation
The group was formally established by an order of the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines dated 27 February 2026. The decree, titled “Creation of a Maintenance and Management Group for the Industrial Zone of El Jem, Mahdia Governorate,” was published in the Official Gazette of the Tunisian Republic (JORT) No. 024 on 27 February 2026.
Why this matters
- Improved infrastructure: The consortium will coordinate regular maintenance, upgrades, and safety inspections across the entire industrial park.
- Enhanced collaboration: By bringing together public authorities, professional bodies, and private stakeholders, the group aims to streamline decision‑making and reduce bureaucratic delays.
- Economic impact: A well‑maintained industrial zone boosts investor confidence, encourages new enterprises, and supports job creation in the Mahdia region.
