Earthquake Hits Ziarat, Pakistan
A magnitude 5 earthquake struck the city of Ziarat and its surrounding areas in the Balochistan province of Pakistan today, announced the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, affiliated with the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Details of the Earthquake
- The epicentre of the earthquake was located 67 kilometres northeast of Quetta.
- So far, no casualties or material damage have been reported.
History of Earthquakes in the Region
The last major earthquake to affect Ziarat occurred in 2008, when a tremor resulted in over 200 deaths and approximately 500 injuries, causing significant material damage in the region.
