Tunisian Parliament Member Reveals Key Conditions for Unemployed University Graduates to Benefit from New Law

Tunisian Member of Parliament, Salah Salmi, who serves as the rapporteur for the Strategic Planning and Sustainable Development Committee, has unveiled the primary conditions for candidacy to benefit from the proposed law on integrating unemployed university graduates, once approved and published in the Official Journal.

During his appearance on the radio show "Il se passe en Tunisie" on national radio, the MP clarified that the project is still a proposal and will only come into effect after its adoption and publication.

Creation of a Digital Platform for Transparency

Salmi indicated that a key aspect of this law is the creation of a digital platform that will list the candidacy conditions and allow for data registration, ensuring complete transparency.

Eligibility Criteria

The MP detailed the required conditions for application:

  • Absolute priority will be given to candidates aged 40 and above, without excluding other age groups.
  • The candidate must be registered with the employment office and not contribute to social security funds.
  • They must not have received a loan of more than 40,000 dinars from a public bank.
  • They must not be managing a professional project.

Salmi also specified that age can be overridden by other more determining conditions, such as the candidate's financial and social situation.

An Exceptional Law Project

The MP emphasized that this is an exceptional and not a general law project. It will be applicable for a limited period of three years from its publication in the Official Journal. The number of beneficiaries will be determined by the decree implementing the law.

Finally, Salmi announced that an academic study day will be held on October 3, 2025, to deepen and refine the law text.
