Sfaxiens Secure Second Consecutive Win
The Sfaxiens aligned their second win in a row yesterday by defeating Soliman's Capbonais at home. If there's one happy man, it's indeed Mohamed Kouki. The clear victory obtained against Avenir Sportif de Soliman with a score of 2-0 has reassured the Sfaxien coach. He was on the hot seat the day before the previous matchday, after which he achieved a large victory in Kairouan with a score of 3-0. Yesterday, at home, the Sfaxien public, who came in large numbers to support their team, left the stands of the Taieb Mhiri stadium happy. The public is also reassured that their team is now on the right track. More enterprising and especially striking, the Sfaxiens knew how to capitalize on two of the opportunities they created.
First, at 39', on a well-taken corner by captain Ali Maaloul, and Mohamed Amine Ben Ali finished the job by lodging the ball in the nets of a powerless Moez Ben Chérifia. Then, in added time and still on a set piece, this time a well-kicked direct free kick by the same Ali Maaloul, and Omar Ben Ali, left unmarked, directly scored in the goal, leaving Ben Chérifia speechless (90'+2).
ASM Suffers Second Consecutive Home Defeat
For the second match in a row played at home, ASM conceded defeat. A failure suffered yesterday against a direct opponent, namely the Miners of Métlaoui. The Marsois, who had paradoxically won a crushing victory in the previous matchday in Béja (6-0), were defeated.
Without being brilliant, the Métlaouis did what was necessary on the Chtioui pitch: taking the lead in the last minute of the first half thanks to a goal signed by Ahmed Ouled Behi (45'). A lead they managed to preserve throughout the second half. By being realistic and determined, the Miners returned with the three points of victory from La Marsa.
As for the suburban team, the defeat conceded yesterday raises the question: when will they regain their habits in Ligue 1? Old habits they seem to be losing due to long years spent in lower divisions. There was a time when the Marsois were invincible at home. The failure suffered yesterday has confirmed that they are still searching for their lost time. After 10 matchdays, the "Green and Yellow" still can't find their cruising speed. It's imperative they roll up their sleeves and put an end to their inconsistent results... as long as it's still time.
