The CA's woes continue as they squandered a crucial opportunity to take the lead against ASS, allowing their opponents to mount a comeback. The two dropped points could prove costly in the final stretch of the season.
La Presse — The CA remains a cursed team that consistently fails to finish strong in the season. Yesterday, Benzarti's team struggled to make an impact in the first half against an organized ASS side featuring skilled players like Haddad and Mjahed. However, when the team regained momentum and scored a header by Ait Malek at the 50' mark, and took control of the game on a soaked pitch and heavy rain at the Kef Stadium, they blew it at the 64' mark. A pivotal moment and several missed opportunities, including a penalty that Chaouat woefully missed, sealed their fate. Given his previous mistakes this season, Chaouat didn't do any better against a struggling Ben Chrifia, but the powerful shot was off-target.
ASS found the energy to mount a comeback and push for an equalizer. Their goal was achieved at the 83' mark after a corner and a mistake by Chamekh (who failed to capitalize on the first opportunity). Jouidi's loose play led to the goal, and after a VAR review, Belaid validated the score. The match ended with a CA team that looked resigned and naive, while Benzarti's team was out of their depth. ASS earned a crucial point and remains relegated, while CA can see EST returning to contention if they win today.
In other matches, ASG suffered a defeat against USM, plummeting towards Ligue 2. Meanwhile, JSOmrane shone in their away victory against a struggling ST, moving up the table. ESS, on the other hand, lost to MET in a match without much significance.
