Tunisia's Emerging Opportunities: Leveraging Technology and Sustainability

As the world focuses on artificial intelligence, sustainability, and energy transition, Tunisia is poised to capitalize on its unique strengths. The country's technological ecosystem, driven by a highly educated youth and a network of innovative start-ups, can become a regional hub for digital solutions and green technologies.

According to the 2021 Startup Tunisia report, nearly 17% of Tunisian start-ups integrate AI, IoT, or Big Data into their activities. Among them, Bako Motors is developing solar-powered electric vehicles, combining innovation with environmental responsibility. Tunisia's participation in global discussions on AI and sustainable finance can enhance the country's visibility among investors.

In 2024, foreign direct investment increased by over 26%, reaching €45 billion for more than 4,000 companies with foreign participation, indicating growing confidence in Tunisia's economic potential. The country is also committed to energy transition, with ambitious projects such as the planned production of 8.3 million tons of green hydrogen by 2050, mainly for export, leveraging its existing gas network and strategic Mediterranean location.

Finally, aligning with international standards (transparency, responsible innovation, and inclusion) and adapting training programs to future jobs, from data to clean energy, is essential. The revolution discussed at Davos is already underway here: Tunisia has the opportunity to anticipate and integrate into the new global economy, transforming technological and environmental challenges into genuine opportunities for its future.
