Monday, May 18, 2026: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun Vows to Do Everything to End the Conflict
In a firm statement, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has pledged to take all necessary measures to stop the conflict that has been ravaging his country. This comes as the Israeli entity continues to strike Lebanese territory, despite a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah and direct negotiations with the Israeli entity.
In an official statement, the Lebanese presidency outlined Beirut's position: "The framework for discussions with the Israeli entity is based on its withdrawal from occupied territories, an effective ceasefire, the deployment of the Lebanese army to the border, the return of displaced persons to their homes, as well as economic and financial aid in favor of Lebanon."
"As per my function and responsibility, my duty is to do the impossible, and the least costly, to bring an end to the war against Lebanon and its people," added President Aoun.
Meanwhile, a new extension of the ceasefire, announced on April 17, has come into effect for an additional 45 days.
