Echos Electrik Association Announces Restoration of Ksar El Ferch as Part of E-Fest Cultural Project

The Echos Electrik association has announced the launch of restoration work on Ksar El Ferch, considered the largest ksar in the Tataouine region, as part of the E-Fest cultural project.

Restoration Work

The restoration work will focus on the complete renovation of the ksar's entrance, which spans over 13,000 m² and features 280 ghorfas. This architectural gem, located between Tataouine and Ghomrassen, is a testament to traditional craftsmanship and authentic culture.

E-Fest Project

The E-Fest project is one of the cultural initiatives of the Echos Electrik association, dedicated to new forms of artistic expression in connection with new technologies in all their diversity. The project aims to revitalize the southern regions of Tunisia through art and education, creating links between heritage and local communities, while strengthening the role of culture in local development.

Festival des Cultures Numériques E-Fest

This initiative is also part of the preparations for the upcoming editions of the Festival des Cultures Numériques E-Fest, which, after thirteen editions held at the Carthage Cathedral and seven years of absence, will return in April 2025 in its new setting, Ksar El Ferch. By investing in this new territory, E-Fest has affirmed its commitment to dedicating all ticket revenue to the restoration of this authentic Berber village, Ksar El Ferch, whose history dates back to the 14th century, according to some sources.

Objective

The objective of this project is to promote the cultural and historical significance of Ksar El Ferch, while also contributing to the local economy and community development. By restoring this ancient ksar, the Echos Electrik association aims to preserve Tunisia's rich cultural heritage and promote its unique history and traditions to a wider audience.
