Launch of the "One Million Signatures" Campaign in Support of Palestinian Prisoners' Rights
The Tunis Regional Labor Union (URT) hosted a press conference on Tuesday to launch the "One Million Signatures" campaign in support of Palestinian prisoners' rights, in partnership with the global network "We Are All Gaza... We Are All Palestine".
Objective of the Campaign
The campaign aims to collect one million signatures (both paper and electronic) from Tunisia and abroad on a petition, with the goal of urging the International Committee of the Red Cross to resume its visits to occupation prisons, reveal the fate of Palestinian, Lebanese, and Arab prisoners, and assume its responsibilities to ensure their legal and human rights. This was stated by Jabran Bouraoui, Secretary General of the URT in Tunis, in a statement to the TAP agency.
Signature Collection
Signature collection will begin on Wednesday, February 11th and will continue until April 17th. Bouraoui called on all Tunisian citizens to visit the URT headquarters to sign the petition before the deadline.
Goals of the Campaign
The campaign aims to guarantee the human rights of prisoners in occupation prisons, protect them from violations, and encourage governments, parliaments, and free peoples around the world to pressure the occupation authorities to open prisons to international organizations, in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.
Denouncing the Silence
Bouraoui denounced the total silence regarding the fate of prisoners, their places of detention, and the extent of physical violations they are exposed to.
