Launch of Tunisia's First 2 MW Solar Power Plant

The construction of Tunisia's first 2 MW solar power plant was launched on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in the Khenansa area, under the delegation of Ajim on the island of Djerba. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Medenine, Walid Taboubi, the regional delegate, MP Badis El Hadj Ali, as well as several representatives of local authorities and administrations. According to a statement from the Medenine governorate, this project is being implemented by young investor Mohamed Ksawla, owner of the company "Sorouh Solar", at a total cost of approximately 3 million Tunisian dinars. This is the first solar power plant of this scale on the island, as part of the national strategy to develop renewable energy and sustainable development. The project aims to strengthen local production of clean energy, reduce polluting emissions, while creating new jobs and stimulating the regional economy.
