Monastir Airport Launches Hajj 2026 Season with Departure of First Tunisian Pilgrims' Flight

The Habib Bourguiba Airport in Monastir marked the official start of the Hajj 2026 season on Friday, May 8, 2026, with the departure of the first Tunisian pilgrims' flight to the holy sites.

Tunisair's flight TU5005, bound for Medina, took off from the airport at 6:35 PM with 266 pilgrims on board. This inaugural departure kicks off a program of multiple rotations scheduled between May and June 2026 from Monastir.

The launch ceremony was attended by Mr. Issa Moussa, Governor of Monastir, Ms. Mélanie Lefebvre, General Director of TAV Tunisie, and several officials and representatives from various structures involved in organizing the pilgrimage flights.
