Health Minister Outlines Plans to Modernize Tunisia's Healthcare Infrastructure
The Minister of Health, Mustapha Ferjani, presented the main programs aimed at modernizing the healthcare infrastructure in Tunisia and strengthening access to specialized care in all regions during a joint plenary session dedicated to examining the budget of his department for 2026.
Key Projects and Initiatives
He indicated that several structural projects will be operational before the end of the year, including the King Salman Hospital in Kairouan. The minister emphasized that the ministry is working to equip public institutions with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including radiology equipment and modern scanners.
Digital Transformation of Healthcare
Ferjani also highlighted the progress of the "digital hospital" project, a platform designed to connect different healthcare establishments to facilitate diagnosis, improve care coordination, and enable remote patient monitoring. This initiative represents a "qualitative leap" that will particularly benefit inland regions, where healthcare facilities will see their capacities strengthened to offer specialized treatments in surgery, internal medicine, and other advanced disciplines.
Modernization of Emergency Services
The minister announced modernization programs for emergency services, including the acquisition of new ambulances and the strengthening of logistics to ensure rapid intervention in critical situations.
Continuous Training and International Cooperation
He stressed the importance of continuous training for medical and paramedical teams to ensure the quality of care in all regions, while also mentioning international cooperation efforts to support the modernization of the sector.
