Dr. Khaled Rahal Calls for Adherence to Treatment Protocols for Breast Cancer Patients

Dr. Khaled Rahal, a specialist in oncological surgery and president of the Tunisian Association for the Care of Breast Cancer Patients, called on patients this Friday, October 17, 2025, to comply with treatment protocols, not to interrupt their medication spontaneously, and to respect the prescriptions and therapeutic pathways defined and decided by medical teams.

Best Practices and Behaviors to Adopt

During his intervention on National Radio, Khaled Rahal affirmed that refusing treatment and using herbs without medical consultation are among the most common mistakes. Dr. Rahal presented a series of practices and behaviors that breast cancer patients should follow, consisting mainly of:

  • A healthy diet
  • Quitting smoking
  • Avoiding second-hand smoke
  • Avoiding carbonated and alcoholic beverages
  • Limiting animal fat intake
  • Not overindulging in sugars and pastries

He emphasized the important role of regular physical exercise in reducing the disease by up to 40% and the need to consume vegetables and fruits, warning against obesity as it increases the risk of developing cancer.

Importance of Regular Check-ups

The speaker explained that, according to data, test results, and considering the woman's family environment, the doctor decides on the frequency of exams (once a year or once every one and a half years...). He added that women from families with a history of cancer or breast cancer are required to undergo screening tests from the age of 35.

Early Detection and Treatment

Dr. Rahal stated that following these tips and adhering to these guidelines allows for early detection of the disease in its initial stages, thus avoiding the need for mastectomy. He specified that early detection of the disease contributes to the adoption of a light treatment protocol (without chemotherapy sessions) and that the cure rate is very high, reaching 100%.

Free Breast Cancer Screening Event

Khaled Rahal invited women to participate in an open day for free breast cancer screening, which will be organized at the El Menzah Six Cultural and Sports Center on October 26.
