Olive Harvesting Season in Kef Governorate
The various agricultural structures in the Kef governorate have agreed, during a working session held this Friday at the governorate's headquarters, to set October 25th as the start of the olive harvesting and processing season. This season will continue until March 15th next year, amidst predictions of an increase in harvest yields compared to the previous season and a production of around 18,000 tons of olives, equivalent to 3,600 tons of oil.
Key Decisions and Preparations
The participants in the session, held under the supervision of Governor Walid Kaabia, discussed a range of points related to the olive harvest season from all aspects. Notably, the reference price for olive pressing was set at 190 millimes per kilogram.
Inspection and Regulation
It was also decided during this occasion to conduct field visits next Wednesday to inspect the 14 oil mills (presses) in the Kef governorate. The objective is to ensure their state of readiness, compliance with specifications and required regulations for the execution of olive transformation operations, and the management of vegetable water (margines). Necessary measures will be taken against offenders.
Season Outlook
With the season's start date set and preparations underway, the Kef governorate is poised for a potentially productive olive harvesting season, with anticipated increases in both olive and oil production. The regulatory visits aim to ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with the highest standards, contributing to the quality of the final products.
