Tunisian Tourism Ministry to Publish New List of Tourist Municipalities
The Director-General of the Tunisian National Tourism Office, Mohamed Mehdi Haloui, announced that the Ministry of Tourism will soon publish a new list of tourist municipalities in the Official Journal, including the commune of Haïdra in the Kasserine governorate.
On the sidelines of the visit of the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Sofiane Tekeya, to the archaeological site and museum of Haïdra, Mohamed Mehdi Haloui specified that the Fund for the Protection of Tourist Areas will continue to support the concerned municipalities through development programs, improvement of cleanliness, and reinforcement of reception infrastructure. These interventions aim to increase the attractiveness of destinations and highlight their heritage and cultural specificities.
Haloui emphasized, in a statement to the TAP Agency, that the ministry is working to promote tourist activity in all regions of the country. He recalled that the third tourist region, which includes Sousse, Monastir, Kairouan, Siliana, and Kasserine, has major assets that can develop cultural and diversified tourism, capable of boosting the local economy.
Regarding the project of the public thermal village of Boulaâba, which has been suspended for several years, Haloui assured that the ministry is implementing a strategy to strengthen thermal and medical tourism in different regions, considering their promising natural resources.
