Regional Health Director Confirms Rabies Case in Kasserine
The regional health director of Kasserine, Abdelghani Chaabani, confirmed in a statement to Mosaïque on Thursday, October 9, 2025, that tests have proven a 15-year-old child was infected with rabies. However, he emphasized that the child's death was not due to the mentioned virus, but rather to chest injuries, according to the forensic medicine report.

Chaabani explained that regional health teams are closely monitoring the situation of the deceased child's family, after administering the necessary vaccines and organizing awareness campaigns to this effect. He added that health services immediately conducted the necessary investigations to manage the potential virus outbreak, as soon as they were informed that a dog was infected with rabies in the Fériana delegation.

In conclusion, the regional director called for the regular vaccination of domestic animals and urged individuals to immediately visit public health facilities in case of a bite or scratch from an unvaccinated animal.
