Young Man Hospitalized After Mysterious Insect Bite
A young man from the Bir El Maleh region in Kalaâ Kebira, Sousse Governorate, has been hospitalized in the nephrology department of Sahloul University Hospital. The incident was caused by what his father described as a strange insect bite.
In an interview on Jawhara FM radio, the father recounted that his son suffered a "bite and sting" last week, which caused swelling. He initially went to the local hospital, where a doctor prescribed medication, but his condition did not improve. He then consulted a specialist who requested an analysis.
The doctor contacted the family again to ask them to go to the Sahloul Hospital, where the young man was admitted to the nephrology department. The tests revealed that the young man was suffering from an infection, bacteria in the blood, and fluid retention. A biopsy was also performed on a small sample of kidney tissue for further laboratory analysis. The results are expected within two to three days.
According to the father, the incident is linked to the accumulation of waste and garbage in the region, as well as the lack of insect control measures to combat mosquitoes. He called on the relevant authorities to pay more attention to the environment.
