Tunisia Condemns Murder of Citizen by French Police
Following the murder of Tunisian citizen Abdelkader Dhibi on September 2, 2025, in Marseille, and on the instruction of the President of the Republic, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad summoned the French Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires in Tunis on the afternoon of September 3, 2025. This meeting took place in the absence of the French Ambassador, who is currently out of the country.
Strong Protest Expressed
In a statement released on its official Facebook page on the evening of September 3, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad specified that the Secretary of State expressed a firm protest concerning the murder committed by members of the French police. The Secretary of State requested that the French Chargé d'Affaires convey to the French authorities that Tunisia considers this act as an unjustified homicide and expects rigorous and prompt action in the investigation to establish responsibilities.
Demands for Justice
Tunisia intends to take all necessary measures to preserve the rights of the victim and his family and to obtain justice. The President of the Republic has instructed the Tunisian Ambassador to Paris to convey the same position to the French authorities and to take, in coordination with the Tunisian Consulate General in Marseille, the necessary arrangements to repatriate the deceased's body to Tunisia as soon as possible.
Support for the Family
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad has also contacted the family of the deceased to offer condolences and inform them of the steps taken to defend the rights of the victim and their loved ones.
