Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed Meets with Health Minister to Discuss Advancements in Public Health Projects
Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed received Health Minister Mustapha Ferjani at the Carthage Palace on Wednesday, October 30, 2025. The meeting focused on the progress of several public health projects, including the creation of the first digital hospital in Tunisia.
Introduction of the First Digital Hospital
This new establishment is presented as a major innovation in the healthcare system, relying on modern technologies to provide medical services remotely. The goal is to bring healthcare closer to citizens, particularly in inland and remote regions, while reducing travel, costs, and waiting times. Medical examinations can be transmitted directly to the digital hospital, where they will be analyzed before a diagnosis and adapted prescription are established.
Acceleration of Hospital Construction and Reform of the Medical Sector
The President emphasized the need to accelerate the construction and commissioning of several hospital facilities in different regions, including Kairouan, Sbiba, El Jem, Ghardimaou, Jelma, Makthar, Hafouz, Dahmani, and Thala. He recalled that the right to health is a fundamental human right that must be guaranteed to all citizens on an equal footing, denouncing attempts by certain "cartels" to delay these projects.
President Saïed also highlighted the urgency of reforming the legal framework of the medical sector to better protect the rights of doctors, paramedical staff, and hospital agents. He estimated that the current system has become obsolete and has generated unacceptable situations that must be corrected without delay.
Recognition of Tunisian Medical Competence and Attractiveness
The President praised Tunisian competencies in the medical field, which are often sought after abroad, as well as the country's attractiveness to international medical students. "Tunisia, with its history, capabilities, and ambitions, does not know the impossible," he declared, affirming that the country will not renounce its dignity or sovereignty.
Conclusion and Commitment to Citizens' Rights
In conclusion, President Saïed reaffirmed that Tunisia "will remain a beacon whose light will continue to shine," promising rapid measures to guarantee the rights of all citizens and counter attempts at disinformation and manipulation.
