Tunisian Play "Les Fugueuses" Wins Top Prize at Carthage Theater Days

The Tunisian play "Les Fugueuses," written and directed by Wafa Taboubi, has won the prestigious Tanit d'Or award at the 26th edition of the Carthage Theater Days (JTC), in addition to the award for best screenplay and best female interpretation, which was awarded to Lobna Noomen.

The official and parallel competition awards of the JTC were announced on Saturday evening during an official ceremony held at the Tunis Opera Theater, in the City of Culture. The 26th edition, which took place from November 22 to 29, was held under the slogan "Theater, a conscience and a change. Theater, the beating heart of the street."

  • Tanit d'Argent: "Le Mur" by Sinan Al-Azzawi (Iraq)
  • Tanit de Bronze: "Jacaranda" by Nizar Saidi (Tunisia)
  • Best Actor Award: Ahmed Abou Zid for his role in "Free Fall" (Chute Libre) by Mohamed Faraj Al-Khachab (Egypt)
  • Best Actress Award: Lobna Noomen for her role in "Les Fugueuses" by Wafa Taboubi (Tunisia)
  • Best Screenplay Award: "Les Fugueuses" by Wafa Taboubi (Tunisia)
  • Best Set Design Award: Ali Soudani for "Le Mur" by Sinan Al-Azzawi (Iraq)
