Increase in Tourist Arrivals at Jendouba Governorate Land Borders

The three land border posts in the Jendouba governorate recorded a 24.31% increase in arrivals by the end of November 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. According to statistics from the Regional Tourism Commission of Tabarka and Aïn Draham, these border posts - namely Melloula in Tabarka, Bebouch in Aïn Draham, and Jalil in Ghardimaou - saw the passage of 1,413,199 Algerian tourists, compared to 1,136,834 during the same period in 2024. This significant dynamic and notable recovery at the land borders have had a positive impact on the region's tourism sector, contributing to the revival of the economic cycle and supporting sectors such as handicrafts, tourist transportation, and other activities related to the sector. Domestic tourism leads the tourism market in terms of arrivals and overnight stays, followed by the Algerian market, then the Polish market, and finally the Libyan market. The Ministry of Tourism, in coordination with the various concerned structures, is working to improve the quality of services offered at all border posts, with the aim of facilitating the arrival of Algerian tourists. It also plans to install information offices to provide them with the necessary information, ensuring that they spend their vacations in the best conditions within Tunisian tourist destinations. It is expected that the region will experience a further increase in the number of Algerian visitors, coinciding with school vacations and New Year's celebrations.
