20th Edition of the Mediterranean Cinematographic Days of Chenini
From October 15 to 19, 2025, in Gabès, the Mediterranean Cinematographic Days of Chenini (Jcmc) will celebrate their 20th edition under the theme "The Right to the Future". As part of this event, a workshop on documentary filmmaking will be held on October 16, 17, and 18 at the University Center for Cultural and Sports Animation, led by Tunisian filmmaker Ridha Tlili.
About Ridha Tlili
Ridha Tlili is a committed filmmaker, producer, and author known for his films that explore social changes, collective memory, and identity issues. Born in 1977 in Sidi Bouzid, he graduated from the Higher Institute of Audiovisual and Multimedia (Isamm, 2003), the Higher School of Audiovisual and Cinema of Gammarth (2008), and holds a research master's degree in Theater and Performing Arts (Isad, 2011). He has also enriched his career with workshops in Germany, Switzerland, and a specialization in documentary filmmaking at the Danish Film School.
Filmography
Under the name Ayan Ken, Ridha Tlili released his first short film, Ayan Kan, in 2007, which won an award for its staging at the International Short Film Festival of Taghit (Algeria). He then directed Bas Bord and Teriague (2009), Revolution Under 5 Minutes and Jiha (2011), Controlling And Punishment and Tafkik (2014), Tounsa (Forgotten) (2017), and La Couleur du phosphate (2022). His films, which blend experimental fiction and creative documentary, have been selected and awarded at various international festivals.
20th Edition of the Jcmc
This 20th edition of the Jcmc will feature engaged short films focused on the environment, climate, education, social justice, and imagination as a tool for resistance. The competing works aim to give voice to future generations and assert their right to a livable future.
About the Festival
Created in 2005 by the Association Formes et Couleurs Oasiennes, the festival is a space for dialogue between the two shores of the Mediterranean and a place for raising awareness about cultural, social, and environmental issues, faithful to its mission of promoting a cinema that carries meaning and change.
