$65 Billion Investment Planned for Iraq’s Border City of Al‑Tayeb to Create a New Economic Hub

The president of the Iraqi Investment Commission, Haider Makia, announced that roughly $65 billion will be poured into the border town of Al‑Tayeb in Iraq to transform it into a multiservice economic city.

According to the national news agency, Makia explained that the project will cover an area of 120,000 km² and that the total investment value exceeds $65 billion, with $5 billion earmarked specifically for infrastructure development.

He highlighted that the site boasts abundant natural resources, which will help the new economic city thrive. Makia added that “we are awaiting the launch of the second phase, which is currently being finalised.”

In the coming months, the Al‑Tayeb city project is expected to be officially presented as a prime investment opportunity.
