Meeting Between Tunisian Foreign Minister and UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations
On the sidelines of the high-level week of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the department, the minister emphasized Tunisia's willingness to strengthen its cooperation with the UN and provide its peacekeepers with the highest levels of training and expertise to address various challenges. He also recalled Tunisia's contributions to peacekeeping operations since the 1960s and the country's constant commitment to international peace and security.
UN Appreciation and Future Cooperation
Jean-Pierre Lacroix, on his part, praised the high level of professionalism of Tunisian military and security units and expressed the UN's willingness to deepen discussions to increase Tunisia's participation in peace operations. He emphasized the implementation of the results of the Tunis meeting, particularly in terms of digitization and training.
Context of the Meeting
The meeting is part of the follow-up to the conclusions of the international conference on "The Role of Armed Forces in Protecting Civilians during Peacekeeping Missions," held in Tunis on July 10-11, 2025.
