International Festival of Musicians and Creators with Disabilities Kicks Off in Tunisia

The 8th Edition of the Festival International des Musiciens et Créateurs en Situation de Handicap

The "Ibsar" association for leisure and cultural activities of visually impaired individuals is organizing the 8th edition of the International Festival of Musicians and Creators with Disabilities, set to take place from May 21 to 23, 2026, in Tunisia. Approximately 45 musicians from 8 countries, including Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, Italy, Spain, Turkey, and France, will participate in the event, according to Mohamed Mansouri, the association's president.

Festival Schedule and Activities

The opening ceremony will begin at 5:00 PM on May 21 at the Le Rio hall in the heart of Tunis. The rest of the festival activities will take place in various hotels in Tunis and Hammamet (Nabeul Governorate), as well as in the premises of several associations providing aid to individuals with disabilities in Fernana (Jendouba), Mnihla (Ariana), and Sousse.

Breaking Barriers and Stereotypes

According to Mansouri, the festival aims to leverage art and creation to break down barriers and obstacles, and to change stereotypes surrounding individuals with disabilities. The program will feature musical interludes and various performances showcasing the musical heritage of participating countries.

Celebrating Women's Talents and Creations

The second day of the festival will be dedicated to celebrating the talents and creations of women with disabilities, through an exhibition and an artistic journey highlighting their works.

International Conference on Inclusive Culture

In conjunction with the festival activities, an international conference titled "Inclusive Culture: A Lever for Defending the Rights of Individuals with Disabilities" will take place on May 23 in Hammamet, featuring the participation of several international experts.

Press Conference

The association's president has announced a press conference to be held on Monday, May 20, at 10:00 AM at the headquarters of the Syndicat National des Journalistes Tunisiens (SNJT), to unveil the detailed program of the festival.
