Arrests Made in Crackdown on Illegal Monopoly and Speculation Networks
In a press release published last night, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that units of the police and national guard have arrested "key individuals involved in networks of monopoly and illegal speculation" and have established judicial reports against them, in coordination with the public prosecution. The ministry stated that security operations were conducted in wholesale and retail markets across the country. These operations primarily targeted "parties involved in illegal speculation, which contributes to price hikes and harms the citizen's purchasing power". It also added that various security units have continued their operations to combat monopoly and illegal speculation practices in the fruit and vegetable sector, as well as in other consumer goods. These actions have recently led to "artificial price hikes and disruptions in supply".
