INS 67.8% of higher education graduates are women and 32.2% are men

General Census of Population and Housing 2024: Key Findings

The general results of the General Census of Population and Housing 2024 have revealed the following distribution of higher education graduates:

  • 67.8% are women
  • 32.2% are men

Regarding the illiteracy rate among young people, it stands at around 4.6%, with:

  • 4.4% being women
  • 4.7% being men Youth illiteracy is more concentrated in rural areas, with a rate of 7.4%, and to a lesser extent in urban areas, with a rate of 3.5%.

These figures highlight the significant feminization of higher education in Tunisia, while also underscoring the persistent challenges of illiteracy, particularly in rural areas.
