Ministry of Interior Accelerates Digitalization of Administrative Services
The Ministry of Interior is accelerating the digitalization of its administrative services to facilitate procedures for citizens and baccalaureate students, announced Abdelkarim Saoud, head of the national identification sub-directorate at the technical and scientific police department.
During his appearance on Express Fm, Abdelkarim Saoud indicated that the electronic extract of civil status, adopted since 2024, is now fully operational. Baccalaureate students can now register remotely thanks to a digital platform developed in partnership with the Ministry of Communication Technologies. This platform allows students to obtain attendance certificates, electronic extracts, pay administrative fees online, and request their national identity card without having to travel.
The ministry also plans to digitize the residence certificate using digital identity and QR Code. Students will be able to make their request from home, in coordination with the databases of the STEG and SONED, and receive their certificate in the shortest possible time. The official launch of this service is scheduled for November 1, 2025, with the aim of accelerating the issuance of identity cards for baccalaureate candidates.
Additionally, students will be able to submit their identity card application online and only visit a center once for fingerprinting, before receiving their card directly at their school, thus reducing waiting lines.
As part of the development of community policing, the Ministry of Interior is currently building 21 model centers - 10 for the national guard and 11 for national security - with a clear separation between administrative and judicial offices. Administrative services from centers that do not meet the criteria will be transferred to national security districts, with the establishment of offices dedicated to citizen relations.
Abdelkarim Saoud also announced the gradual generalization of digital fingerprint reading equipment to replace ink, as well as the deployment of a remote appointment scheduling system via SMS to limit travel and waiting times in centers.
Finally, the technical and scientific police department is collaborating with the National Center for Organ Transplant Promotion to encourage citizens to indicate their donor status on their national identity card.
