Total Number of Valid Licenses in the Hydrocarbon Sector
The total number of valid licenses in the hydrocarbon sector as of the end of September 2025 stood at 15 licenses, including 14 research licenses and one exploration license. These figures come from the report "Economic Situation (September 2025)" published by the National Observatory for Energy and Mines (ONEM) today, Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Concessions and Production
The total number of concessions amounts to 56, with 44 of them being in the production phase. The state, through the Tunisian Enterprise for Petroleum Activities (ETAP), participates in 34 of these productive concessions and is directly involved in three concessions.
Development Licenses
Regarding development licenses, the Observatory indicated that as of the end of September 2025, the drilling of one well (Chergui CRG-10ST) has been completed, in addition to the continuation of drilling another well (Chergui CRG-12ST) which started on March 25, 2025.
Exploration Licenses
As for exploration licenses, the Observatory reported that no new exploration operations or seismic acquisitions were recorded until the end of September 2025.
