The Scam

The wife explained, in an interview today on "Jawhara FM", that her husband had found a rental apartment ad on Facebook. She then contacted the author via messaging, who claimed to reside abroad. This individual stated that he would rent them a furnished apartment in the Khzema region, on the condition that they pay the equivalent of two months' rent to one of his acquaintances living in a neighboring governorate.

The Scammer's Tactics

The scammer managed to convince her to hand over a sum of 1,500 dinars, after giving her the apartment keys and providing the exact address, promising to draft the rental contract upon his return to Tunisia for the New Year's holidays.

The Discovery

She added that she was surprised, when she went to the location with her husband, to discover that she had fallen victim to a scam and that there was no apartment that the key provided by the scammer's acquaintance could open.

The Aftermath
