Tunisia Confirms its Position as a Global Leader in Date Production
Tunisia has reaffirmed its position as a world leader in date production. According to the website TasteAtlas, the Tunisian variety Nouri is among the top 25 best dates in the world, with a rating of 4.6 stars, while other Tunisian varieties have also received excellent evaluations: "Neptus" with 4.5 stars and a product from the Agricultural and Cold Trading Company of Nabeul with 4.3 stars.
During the first 11 months of the 2024-2025 season, the average price of Tunisian dates was set at 6.37 dinars per kilogram, while Nouri dates sold for around 7.10 dinars per kilogram. The Nouri variety accounts for 83% of exported volumes and nearly 93% of the revenue generated by the sector.
Despite this international recognition, Tunisian date exports have slightly declined, with a decrease of around 6% in the quantities exported compared to the previous season. Regarding organic dates, approximately 8,300 tons were exported for a total value of 73 million dinars, recording a decline of 2.7% in volume and 6.2% in revenue compared to the same period in the previous season.
These results highlight the recognized quality of Tunisian dates on the international scene and confirm the country's expertise in producing and exporting its flagship varieties, particularly Nouri, which continues to attract consumers from around the world.
