Heavy Rainfall Hits Kasserine, Causing Flash Flooding
Heavy rainfall was recorded in Kasserine, with 60 millimeters falling in a matter of hours, leading to the overflow of several wadis, according to climatologist Amer Bahba in a statement on Friday evening.
These precipitation events are part of a series of meteorological disturbances accompanied by thunderstorms, primarily affecting the central-west and south-west regions of the country. The significant amounts of water have caused flooding in several wadis and required the intervention of emergency services, including assistance to a vehicle stranded in the Oum Laarayes region of Gafsa governorate.
According to the same source, 25 millimeters of rain were also recorded in Sidi Bouzid governorate overnight.
Amer Bahba stated in a declaration to Diwan Fm that the intensity of these disturbances is expected to gradually subside, making way for light and localized rainfall, particularly in the eastern and south-eastern regions.
He also announced a gradual improvement in meteorological conditions from this night and throughout the coming days of May, with an expected rise in temperatures.
In a related context, a geography specialist estimated that these thunderstorm episodes may resume next week, highlighting that they are a common phenomenon during the transition periods between spring and summer.
