Ministry of Health Announces Ban on Products Containing TPO
The Ministry of Health has announced a ban on the manufacture, marketing, and supply of all products containing the substance TPO (Trimethyl-benzoyl-diphenyl-phosphine-oxide), used in certain semi-permanent nail polishes. This decision follows international alerts from health control authorities, which scientifically confirm that TPO is carcinogenic and hazardous to human health. The competent services of the ministry, in coordination with other concerned ministries and structures, will proceed with the immediate withdrawal of all cosmetic products containing this substance from the Tunisian markets and will follow the procedures to ensure the application of this measure. The ministry reminds consumers to carefully check the labels and ingredient lists before purchasing any cosmetic product and not to use products containing TPO in order to preserve their health and safety. Manufacturers, suppliers, and professionals in the sector are invited to strictly respect this ban.
