Technical Center for Innovation, Renovation, and Supervision of Carpets and Weaving (CTIRET) Prepares to Establish a Traceability System
The Technical Center for Innovation, Renovation, and Supervision of Carpets and Weaving (CTIRET) is preparing to establish a traceability system tailored to the activity of artisanal carpets and weaving in Tunisia, by conducting an in-depth study to this effect. This initiative is part of the efforts to explore the most effective means to improve the quality of artisanal textiles in the country and enhance the product by giving it added value both nationally and internationally. To this end, the CTIRET, in cooperation with the Tunisian National Office of Crafts (ONAT), recently organized a workshop on the theme of establishing a traceability system for the value chain in artisanal textiles, at the Design Center in Denden. The workshop was attended by the Director General of ONAT and a group of her executives, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Tourism, Trade, Industry, and Culture, who are part of the steering committee overseeing the implementation of this study. Representatives from a private consulting firm, responsible for conducting the in-depth study on the subject, also facilitated the workshop. The Center noted that the workshop brought together a elite group of experts who provided the required added value by developing the technical and technological possibilities that can be used to establish a traceability system adapted to the activity of artisanal carpets and weaving.
