CEPEX and Global Business Network Sign MoU to Boost Tunisian Exports and Structure the Halal Sector
The Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) and the Global Business Network have recently signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening the development of Tunisian exports and structuring the Halal sector. This agreement marks a major step in international cooperation to:
- Support export growth,
- Organise targeted trade missions,
- Develop the Halal ecosystem.
Main objectives
The primary goal of the MoU is to facilitate Tunisian companies’ access to strategic markets, especially:
- Africa,
- Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries,
- Asia.
It also seeks to back Tunisian participation in international trade fairs and to consolidate Tunisia’s presence on the global stage.
The Halal sector as a growth lever
CEPEX highlights that the Halal sector is now a strategic lever for the agri‑food and cosmetics industries. In 2024:
- ≈ 40 Tunisian companies were Halal‑certified,
- The majority of certified products are dates and olive oil, which together account for over 30 % of all Halal‑certified items.
