May 6, 2026 - Tunis, Tunisia
The countdown has begun for Tunisian pilgrims heading to the Holy Sites. Anis Mzoughi, Director General of the Hajj and Omra at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, confirmed on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, that the first flight to the Holy Sites will depart tomorrow, Thursday, May 7. This air bridge will continue uninterrupted until May 22, 2026.
During an interview on the National Radio, Anis Mzoughi emphasized the importance of logistical organization for this first wave of departures. He urged pilgrims to arrive at the airport five hours before their scheduled flight time, with the first flight departing at 9:00 am. Regarding the return phase, the first flights from the Holy Sites to Tunisia are expected to begin on June 1 and will continue until June 14.
Innovative Service from Tunisair
This season, Tunisair has introduced a major innovation called "Haj without Luggage." This premium service aims to provide optimal comfort to pilgrims. With this simplified logistics, pilgrims can travel directly to their accommodations in Mecca or Medina without waiting for their luggage to be retrieved at the airport. Tunisair's specialized teams will handle luggage transport from the terminal to the hotel and vice versa, adhering to the highest standards of security.
Recommendations and Quota Update
While providing a series of health and organizational recommendations to travelers, the responsible official reminded that the Tunisian quota for this year is set at 10,982 pilgrims. However, Tunisia has officially requested an increase in this number from the Saudi authorities. This request is based on the latest population census figures from 2024, with Anis Mzoughi hoping for a favorable response from the Kingdom to allow more citizens to fulfill their pilgrimage.
