Tunisian Parliament Deputy Announces Restoration of Inter‑City Bus Services in Kébili Governorate
Kébili, Tunisia – Tahar Mansour, a deputy in the Assembly of the People’s Representatives (ARP) for the Kébili governorate, announced on Monday that the Souk Lahad – Tunis line, operated by the National Inter‑Urban Transport Company (SNTRI), will resume service within the next 15 days at most. The restart follows the allocation of a brand‑new, high‑comfort bus to replace the vehicle that had been out of service for some time.
Mansour also confirmed that another high‑comfort bus has been placed on the El Faouar – Douz – Tunis route, substituting the older unit to improve passenger comfort and well‑being on these long journeys.
Strengthening the Regional Fleet
- Eight new articulated buses are slated to arrive soon in the Kébili region as part of an international tender.
- The administrative procedures for receiving these vehicles are now in the final stage.
- The articulated buses belong to a batch of 24 vehicles destined for the Regional Transport Company of Gabès (SRTG), which also supplies the transport agencies of Kébili and Douz.
Upcoming Line Restorations Planned by SRTG
The regional fleet will be further reinforced by additional acquisitions scheduled for later this year. SRTG intends to reopen several key routes once maintenance work on the assigned buses is completed:
- Douz – Sfax line
- Douz – Gabès line
These reopenings are expected to enhance connectivity across southern Tunisia and provide passengers with more reliable, comfortable travel options.
