The content of this decree was revealed on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, during a working session held at the Sfax City Hall. The main measures adopted are as follows:

  • The circulation of heavy goods vehicles with a total weight in charge exceeding 12 tonnes is strictly prohibited, every day of the week, on the following axes:
    • Tunis Road

    • Majida Boulila Avenue
    • Martyrs Avenue
  • The passage of these vehicles is also prohibited from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM, all week, from the km 11 ring road towards the city center, via all roads and access points.
  • Access to the city center will be limited to a single northern access point and a single southern access point.
  • Any offender will be subject to the sanctions provided for by the legislation in force. The decree provides for exceptions for two specific categories:
  • Trucks transporting oxygen for hospital facilities
  • Vehicles from driving schools Emphasis has been placed on the crucial role of security units in ensuring the rigorous application of these measures. The authorities have also called for increased coordination between neighboring municipalities to develop joint traffic plans, in order to ensure smoother mobility, reduce congestion, and limit road accidents.

    Shared Responsibility

The participants in the meeting emphasized that the success of this decision does not rely solely on security and municipal controls. It is a collective responsibility involving transport company managers and drivers, who are called upon to strictly respect the defined routes to preserve human lives, decongest traffic, and protect infrastructure and the environment.
