Tunisian Parliament Member Reveals Key Conditions for Unemployed Graduates to Benefit from New Law

Member of Parliament Salah Salmi, rapporteur of the strategic planning and sustainable development commission, has unveiled the main conditions for candidacy to benefit from the draft law on integrating unemployed higher education graduates, once approved and published in the Official Journal.

During his intervention on the radio show "Il se passe en Tunisie" on national radio, the MP specified that the project is still a proposal and will only come into effect after its adoption and publication.

Creation of a Digital Platform for Transparency

Salmi indicated that a key point of this law is the creation of a digital platform that will list the application conditions and allow data registration, ensuring total transparency.

Eligibility Criteria

The MP detailed the required conditions to apply:

  • Absolute priority will be given to candidates aged 40 and above, without excluding other age groups.
  • The candidate must be registered with the employment office and not contribute to social security funds.
  • They must not have benefited from a loan of more than 40,000 dinars from a public bank.
  • They must not manage a professional project. Salmi also specified that age is a criterion that can be overridden by other more determining conditions, such as the candidate's financial and social situation.

An Exceptional Law Project

The MP emphasized that this is an exceptional and not general law project. It will be applicable for a limited period of three years from its publication in the Official Journal. The number of beneficiaries will be determined by the decree implementing the law.

Upcoming Academic Study Day

Finally, Salmi announced that an academic study day will be held on October 3, 2025, to deepen and refine the law text.
