Tunisia Ranks 76th in the "Global Innovation Index 2025", Entering the Top 80 Most Innovative Ecosystems Worldwide
The Press — Tunisia has climbed to 76th place in the international "Global Innovation Index 2025" ranking, marking a remarkable breakthrough into the top 80 most innovative ecosystems globally. The report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which has just been published, highlights that the country is now exceeding expectations compared to its economic development level. It ranks Tunisia among the 17 global economies that stand out for their superior performance compared to their development level. This increased efficiency earns it the status of an "overperforming" country in terms of innovation, a dynamic group that also includes Senegal, Uzbekistan, and Rwanda. According to analysts, this improvement recorded in 2025 reflects a new momentum and strong potential for future growth for the country. Ranked 14th in the Middle East and North Africa region, Tunisia continues to capitalize on its major strengths, namely a solid human capital and emerging innovation ecosystems. The country stands out spectacularly in key indicators, such as the number of graduates in science and engineering (2nd worldwide) and the number of scientific and technical articles published (17th). The GII 2025 reveals a broader geographical diversification of innovation. While powers like China, India, Turkey, and Vietnam continue their ascent, new regions are emerging. Central and Southern Asia, as well as the Middle East, are progressing steadily, contributing to a more diversified and multipolar innovation landscape.
